Spring is here, and soon it will be Easter Sunday! It’s that time of year where families get together for good food and family fun and games. You can see happy faces everywhere because who doesn’t love an Easter egg hunt? Definitely none of my kids! They can’t wait to see what will be in their baskets and what delicious goodies we’ll be having like these Chunky Chocolate and Walnut Easter Cookies.
So how do you make Easter a special day for your family? We make delicious treats like these Easter cookies and these Easter Peeps Cupcakes. Will all of these sweet treats I’m sure everyone in your family will wish it’s spring and Easter all year long!
Chunky Chocolate and Walnut Easter Cookies
Let’s bake Easter cookies! With walnuts and chunky chocolate, these cookies are hard to resist. And I love how we brighten them up with colorful Easter M&Ms! Sounds sweet and delicious just by the name right? They can also make your kids drop down their phones and tell you “Mom, this is the best cookie in the world. Let’s make more!”
Because who doesn’t love a scrumptious chocolate cookie??? I know there are some that don’t love chocolate as much as my kids or that have allergies, these Lemon Crinkle Cookies are just as good with a spring flavor.
Ingredients for Chocolate and Walnut Easter Cookies:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 2oz chopped walnuts
- 1 cup Easter M&Ms, chopped
Directions for Easter Cookies:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Chop the Easter M&Ms
- In a small bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking soda. Set aside.
- In a large bowl or stand mixer, mix the butter, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract for about 2 minutes, until creamy.
- Add the eggs, Beat until fully combined.
- Slowly add the dry mixture and mix well.
- Fold the walnuts and M&Ms into the mixture.
- Drop by small rounded teaspoons onto a baking sheet.
- Bake for 7-10 minutes (depending on your oven), until golden.
- Remove from oven and let sit for a minute, then remove to cooling rack.
My kiddos love the cute M&Ms inside these chocolaty cookies. There are different candies you can use to make them perfect for your family. Whatever you use it will be totally yummy and fun to make.
