How to Make Sesame Garlic Chicken Wings
Prep time: 10 minutes
Active cook time: 14-16 minutes (+ time to come to pressure)
Natural release: 10 minutes
Serves: 8
Ingredients:
- 6 lbs. chicken wings
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 ½ c. water
- White sesame seeds, for garnishing
Sesame Asian Sauce Ingredients:
- ⅓ cup of soy sauce
- 3 Tbsp sesame oil
- 4 Tbsp honey
- 1 ½ Tbsp butter
- 2 ½ tsp ginger finely chopped or minced
- 1 ½ tsp garlic powder

Instructions:
- Season wings with salt and black pepper, to taste. Place the metal trivet inside your Instant Pot and add 1 ½ cups of water. HINT: If you use hot water it will take less time for the pot to build up pressure. Arrange the seasoned wings on top of the trivet. Pay attention to the MAX line as you do not want to fill it too full. Once you have the wings arranged in the pot go ahead and secure the cover in place. Make sure the vent is switched to “Sealing”. Set the Instant Pot to Manual for 8 minutes. (If you’re using frozen wings add 3-4 minutes.)
- While the wings are cooking, begin preparing the sesame garlic sauce. Heat the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, butter, ginger and garlic powder in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir frequently until the butter is melted and the mixture is thoroughly combined. Remove from heat and set aside. When cook time on the Instant Pot is complete, allow the pressure to naturally release for 10 minutes. Then do a quick release for any remaining steam by opening the vent. Carefully remove the lid and transfer wings to a large bowl. Set aside and cool slightly. If you are trimming the whole wing to save some pennies (check the diagram above) you can do that now.
- It’s time to add the sauce and crisp these wings up! Move your oven rack to the top position and pre-heat broiler to high. Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil (makes for an easier clean-up) and place a wire cooling rack on top. Set aside.
- In the large bowl, pour 1/3 of the sesame garlic sauce on top of the wings and toss to coat. Next, transfer the wings to the wire rack on the prepared baking sheet. Place them under the broiler for 3-4 minutes or until the wings start to get crispy and develop a golden brown color. Turn the wings with tongs and repeat on the remaining side.
- Remove from the oven and toss the wings with the a bit more of the sesame garlic sauce. Sprinkle with white sesame seeds and serve immediately. Any remaining sauce can be served on the side as well.
